About Me
I have enjoyed providing psychotherapy in Metro Atlanta for over 23 years, and I currently maintain a private practice at the Century Lake office complex in Atlanta where I work with individuals and couples.
I offer both short- and long-term psychotherapy, depending on client need. Some people find just a few sessions helpful to resolve an issue, and others choose to explore long-standing patterns and struggles over a more extended period of time. The following are some of the issues I address with clients:
- relationship issues
- couples therapy
- alcohol and other substance abuse / recovery
- depression and anxiety
- grief and loss
- life transitions
- personal growth and development
I prioritize establishing a safe and supportive environment in which healing can occur. I work collaboratively with clients to explore their concerns and struggles, build on their strengths, develop their inner resources, identify and achieve goals, and deal with unresolved issues. Although different theoretical approaches have influenced me (including family systems theory, Gottman Method Couple Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, and Relational Life Therapy), I am most excited to be a Certified Relational Life Therapy couples therapist because of the profound effectiveness of this transformational approach developed by relationship expert Terry Real. (I say more about this on my Services page.)
I believe that the mind, spirit, and body are intimately connected, and all must be taken seriously to move toward healing and wholeness, although this process will look different for everyone. In my early education and clinical training I focused on the intersection of psychotherapy and spirituality. I enjoy working with a broad spectrum of clients, and I have profound respect for my clients’ individual systems of value and meaning and their different worldviews.
It has always been a real honor and privilege to do this work. Not many people get to see others in some of their most vulnerable moments, hear deeply personal stories, witness laughter and tears, and be a companion and guide to go deep within, heal wounds, find support, gain insight, and improve relationships. But I do, and I’m grateful for the opportunities.
